Securing Next-Gen Smart City Infrastructure
How CBZN deployed a comprehensive zero-trust network across a major metropolitan area, protecting essential services and civic data.
The Background
As urban centers increasingly rely on interconnected IoT devices for traffic management, utility distribution, and emergency services, the attack surface expands exponentially. Metropolis Beta recognized the critical vulnerability in their legacy systems when integrating new 'smart' modules.
The challenge was twofold: secure millions of disparate endpoints operating on various protocols, and ensure zero latency in critical municipal operations. A traditional perimeter defense was inadequate for this highly decentralized architecture.
Implementation Strategy
CBZN deployed a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) overlay specifically engineered for operational technology (OT) and IoT ecosystems. The deployment proceeded in three distinct phases to ensure continuous service availability.
PHASE 01: DISCOVERY
Deployment of 15
PHASE 02: SEGMENTATION
Integration of secure smart intercoms and biometric access points across civic infrastructure.
